Shaykh Usama Abdulghani was born in Washington, D.C. At the age of 20, he travelled to Iran and began his Islamic education at the Islamic Seminary in Qom. He frequently travels to various parts of the US, Canada, and Europe, to spread the message of the Ahlulbayt (as). His studies focused on Islamic Law and Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence and he has taught among other subjects, Family Ethics in Islam. Since joining the Metro-Detroit community officially in 2015, the Light of Guidance has made significant strides and he has made a profound impact on individuals and families alike in their journey towards Allah (swt).

Syed Ali Jafri was born in New York and raised in Michigan. He earned his degrees from Michigan State University and the University of Texas School of Law. After practicing law for four years, he moved with his family to Qom in 2013 to pursue advanced studies in the ḥawzah. He currently serves as the resident alim at the Zainabia Center of Michigan and directs Dar al-Dhikr, an initiative dedicated to sharing Islam’s spiritual and intellectual heritage.

International flights are not included in the registration fee. Applicants are responsible for their own flight arrangements. More instructions will be given after registration.
Yes, a visa assistance option will be available on the registration form for a $150 fee (to cover Visa costs).
Registration will include everything within Iraq (accommodations, meals, transportation, etc.)

Yes! Participants who complete their registration by January 31st, 2026 will receive an early bird discount.
Yes, wheelchair services are available for a $200 fee for the course of the trip.
Yes! This is a family-oriented program, so all family members and ages are welcome.
Children under the age of nine who do not require a bed for themselves, do not have a ground package cost.

Comfortable and convenient 4-5 star accommodations & three daily meals are provided for all participants during the trip.
The $350 deposit and the $150 Visa Fee are non-refundable. Complete payments will be done on the first day of the trip in Iraq.
